She's Back!!!(briefly)

Well guys I am back!
I said the last blog was my final blog but I actually had the opportunity to blog once again! This is my very last day of web design(and school for that matter) and on Thursday I will be all done with my much dreaded exams! And then it will be summer. summer. SUMMER!!!! This year has just flown by and I can't believe its almost over! It has been a good year but I am so ready to not worry about homework and be able to sleep in. However I do have to start on my summer reading and I have a long packet to complete for an honors class I will be taking next year so I guess I'm not completely liberated from all of my school work :( I hope that yall have a wonderful fantastic summer break!!!!!

Final Blog!!!

Thats right the time has come for me, Ellie, and Annie to say our good byes to all of our loyal followers. It makes me so sad to discontinue posting but now that I am no longer in web design class I just have nothing to blog about anymore. It has been a great experience to learn all about designing on the web, blogging, and more. I hope that anyone reading this will feel inspired to go out and blog. It really is quite fun! I hope that you all have a wonderful summer and good luck in exams everybody!!!!!

Culture Day!

Today in World Cultures we get to where clothing from a country that we have studied this year and Ellie gave me the wonderful idea to blog about it! I am wearing traditional Chinese attire. It is a magenta/purple top and pant suit with gold embroidery and the top has a manderin collor. I purchased it at a Chinese store which had an abundance of wonderful clothing! Annie and Ellie have on wonderful outfits as well! Ellie is wearing a blue Japanese kimono that looks so cute and Annie has on a mexican top that is too cute!!! You girls are so stylish! Anyways in class people are bringing foods from other countries for our enjoyment which sounds delicious!!!

Last week of classes!!!!!

This is our last week of classes at school!!!!!!! Next week we have exams :( so this week will be full of studying not so fun! But then we have summer! I really cant wait until I can sleep in and not worry about school!

Sprinkles Cupcakes!!!!!!!

Sprinkles cupcakes are so amazing!!!!!! Ellie and I were just discussing our very favorite flavors! I would have to say that my favorites are red velvet, black and white, and strawberry but I would love to try the salty caramel which is a limited edition cupcake. What are yalls favorite flavors??

Wrapping up the school year!

I am finally starting to feel like summer is almost here! I am almost done with all of my tests and projects so now I have to start to study for exams :( This has been a really good year but I am sooo ready for summer! I have looked at the summer reading list and I am required to read The Lord of the Flies and then off of the optional list I am choosing to read The Shack and Seabiscuit: An American Legend. They both looked really good and have both been on the best sellers list so I think they are good choices!

The Final Stretch!

Seeing that we only have 13 days left of school!!!! I am beginning to view this as the final stretch of the race(freshman year. Why might that be? Well first of all the fourth quarter is like the last lap and the last two weeks are like the absolute last bit of the year! Unfortunately they go by slowly and painfully. Exams. Synonymous with torture, long nights of studying, stress, etc, etc. So while Summer is clearly visible from where we are we must go through exams to get to it :( I should really start studying! I have a few tests this week and then after that I will be able to study for exams. The main exam I am worried about would be the World Cultures Exam. I will have to learn every detail on all of my tests, science, french, and math will be easier to study for because my teacher will give us a review packet but for world cultures and english, my tests and notes are all that I have. Hopefully you all will have a less stressful time studying!

Weekend!

I had a very busy weekend! On Saturday I had my ballet performance which was a blast! It went really well and I had a lot of fun! Then on Saturday night I went to coffee house which was fun! They had some really good food and I brought chicken salad and pimento cheese finger sandwiches that my mom and I made which were quite delicious if I may say so myself! On Sunday I had a pretty chill day because I was so exhausted from the previous day so I just spent time with my family since it was mothers day and did my homework. Then my dad and I went to I <3 yogurt(my fave dessert place) and I got a blend of cali strawberry, pomegranate, Italian original, and orange sorbet topped with strawberry, mango, kiwi, and gummi bears! It sounds like a lot but I only got a very little amount of each flavor and topping so it really wasn't! Anyways that was my weekend! What did yall do?

Today

Luckily I don't have to much going on today! After school I have to go to PE and do crunches and pushups but that shouldn't take to long! After that my mom is picking me up and taking me to get my ballet stage makeup for my performance on Saturday. Then I will go home and do my homework and after that I can catch up on the TV shows I have missed this week. So far I have missed House, Glee, and Gossip Girl. I won't be able to watch all of them tonight but I can probably watch one or two.

Project Update!

Our project is coming along so nicely! Poor Ellie has been sick and we missed her but thankfully she is back today!! We have completed the verb, vocab, conversation, and are working on the culture page! I think our webpage is going to be really great!

World Cultures Quiz

Tomorrow I have a quiz in world cultures over Central and South America. I have to be able to label all of the countries and know their capitals! Luckily I know most of the locations of the Central American countries but I do still have to learn the capitals. Hopefully it won't take to long; I usually can learn the map information fairly quickly!

Contacts!

Today I am going to the eye doctor to try out contacts! I am really hoping that they will work out for me because I don't want to have to wear glasses forever. My main concern is that I will have to touch my own eye which I am not thrilled about but I think I will get used to it. Everyone tells me that contacts are no big deal and you get used to them very quickly so I really hope they are right! I already bought a really cute contact lens case that is pink with white polka dots and it is super cute!

Vitamin Water

I absolutely LOVE vitamin water! It is such a refreshing beverage that comes in many great flavors! My favorites are Dragonfruit, Peach-Mango, and Strawberry Kiwi. Unfortunately they only have acai blueberry at my school which is good but not my favorite. What are your thoughts on vitamin water?

Favorite flower- I love many flowers; tulips, lillies, blue hydrangas, white roses, hibiscus, and orchids

Favorite Holiday- My favorite holidays are Christmas and Easter. Christmas is such a cheerful time and I love picking out gifts for other people, Christmas music, holiday foods(eggnog and gingersnaps are lovely together)and sitting by the fire. Easter is in Spring, my favorite season. Its the perfect temperature outside and all of the flowers are out. It also is a stress free holiday. Thanksgiving and Christmas can sometimes be a little stressful when worrying about the holiday meal or gifts but for Easter I can dress up in Lilly Pulitzer(my favorite store) and go enjoy delicious brunch at a country club!

Derby!

After ballet on Saturday I rushed home just in time to see a little bit of the Kentucky Derby pre-show. In my opinion the pre-show is just as fun as the actual race because all of the horses walk down the track and they put them in the start fence and you get to learn about all of the horses and they give the predictions about who is favored to win. The actual race is only about two minutes long but it never fails to be exciting! This year it had rained all day long but had stopped before the race but the track was so wet it looked like glass. Luckily none of the horses fell which was good because it is always really sad when that happens! The horse that one is named Super Saver which I think is a pretty cool name and the people who own him are from Dallas. It was a very exciting race I hope that one year I will be able to go!

Restaurants in Dallas!

My mom is a very good cook so usually we just eat dinner at home but occasionally we get to go out to eat and these are a few of my favorite restaurants:

Shin Sei(possibly misspelled)
This is one of the most amazing asian restaurants that I have ever been too! They have sushi and other traditional asian food YUM. I tend to get shrimp tempura rolls at restaurants if it is on the menu and their shrimp tempura rolls are amazing! They also have very good fried rice.

Mango Thai
Another of my favorites this is a more casual environment than Shin Sei but equally delicious! They work mango into a lot of their dishes which is one of my favorite fruits so I really like this! The citrus duck is absolutely wonderful and so is the tempura green tea ice cream.

The Mint
Another asian restaurant that I love! It's the small version of Asian Mint which tends to be much busier and harder to get a table at. The entire inside is blue which is very cool. I recommend getting the peppermint water(its very refreshing), orange chicken, fried rice(best in Dallas in my opinion), and green tea ice cream cake.

Toulouse
This is a very good French restaurant in HP. It really looks like a real French bistro! I frequently get french onion soup and the pomme frites but if we go there for Sunday brunch I get the eggs benedict. The lemonade there is also very good!

HP pharmacy
This is an old fashioned soda fountain type lunch place. Its very casual but I have yet to have a better grilled cheese or vanilla milkshake than available here. They also have root beer floats and chocolate sodas that are really good!

Pass It On

I think the Pass It on ceremony is a wonderful school tradition! In case you don't know what pass it on is, a senior lights a candle and then uses their candle to light an 8th graders candle and then they walk down the isle together. It is supposed to be symbolic of the seniors leaving and the 8th graders moving up to high school and it was especially special for me because my brother passed the flame on to me. I think it is a really original idea that only our school does which is partly what makes it so special!

Summer time!(almost)

I am super excited for this summer! I will be spending a few weeks in Colorado with my family which we do every year which as always will be really fun! I also am going to camp for all of July which will be a very nice escape from the 105 degree weather here in Dallas. Camp is always the highlight of my summer because I can see all of my close friends again for a whole month! I also plan on spending a lot of time by the pool and my goal is to start working out more and possibly joining a yoga or pilates class at the YMCA. Of course I will have to spend a good bit of time doing summer reading, which is to be completed poolside while I enjoy a strawberry smoothie. I have enjoyed this year but as always around this time I become much to anxious for summer! What are your summer plans?

Exams!!!

Exams are easily the most stressful time of the school year for me!I did well on the exams at the end of first semester but I'm worried about these exams because I have so much more information!!! Especially world cultures that exam that I am certain will be the absolute death of me! I really hope I have kept all of my WC tests together!!! This whole weekend I am sure will be spent working on gather my exam study materials... GREAT

This Weekend

I have a really busy weekend! On Saturday I have a full dress rehersal for my ballet performance next weekend, I plan on watching the Kentucky Derby, I may be meeting a friend for lunch, I need to do some shopping for spring clothing and on Sunday I am singing at Church with the cast of Godspell, a musical which I was in at my church a few weeks ago. Sometime this weekend I have to get together all of my exam study materials and I would like to relax for at least an hour this weekend and workout on Sunday so I am clearly very busy this weekend!! Because I have so much to do I have decided not to go to the dance at school on Saturday because a lot of my friends aren't going to go and I am just way to busy!

Kentucky Derby

This Saturday is the Kentucky Derby! It takes place every year on the first Saturday of May. Every year I watch the TV for the two minutes when the fastest horses race eachother. I love seeing what people wear to the Derby. I have always envied their wonderful hats!!! If I were to go to the derby I would wear a Lilly Pulitzer dress and a pretty and extravigant hat!

Busy Day!!!

So today is going to be a very busy day! After school I have to hurry on over to lensCrafters at northpark to pick up my glasses, then while at northpark I am going to pick out some white jeans, I also must find a black top to wear to the Blackout party on Saturday that I am going to wear with my black skirt. Then I am going to ballet for an hour and a half, after that I must scurry home to eat dinner with my family. So I will start my homework around seven thirty which doesn't seem that late but I like to finish my homework early usually so its late for me! Anyways I hope I have enough to time to fit all of that in!

Glasses Update

So I found some glasses yesterday at lensCrafters at Northpark mall. They are cute I guess, well as cute as glasses possibly could be I suppose. They are Ralph Lauren frames and are tortoise shell which looks nice. I am going to pick them up later day but I cant wait to get contact lenses!

Project Update

For our project Annie, Ellie, and I are working on our French page! A French teacher at our school is our client and we are making a page that she can use as a resource and study page for her students!The page contains verb conjugations, verb tense endings, reflexive verbs, common phrases and expressions, situations like shopping in a department store in France, etc...It is a really fun project! Ellie made the logo and it is SO COOL!!! It is a red circle inside of a blue circle and the Eiffel Tower is in the middle! I must say I am very impressed by her amazing logo design skills! Ellie is working on the actual design concept and Annie is getting information on French culture. We have divided the work really well between us!

GLASSES!!!

So all of my life I thought I had amazing eyesight but recently I went to the eye doctor and I have to get glasses!!!!! I'm not thrilled about this...AT ALL! I have yet to find any glasses that I like on me. Seeing that my whole life I have never had glasses I think it will take some getting used to. But I don't like the way glasses look on me so I will most likely end up with contacts. I am going back to the eye doctor to get contacts but I am concerned that I will not like touching my eye. Any ways hopefully I will get used to it!

Ideas for Project!

For web design class we have been assigned to make a webpage for someone at our school other than ourselves. We can do it with a partner so my friend Ellie and I would like to make a page for our French teacher. The page would be a classroom resource page but would not need to be updated. We would have information like a list of common verbs and translations, irregular verb conjugations, verb endings and stems, and maybe some links to helpful websites! We could have a lot of fun with this page and use the colors of the french flag as our color scheme and put whatever else our teacher wants on the webpage! I think this will be a really fun project!

Hero or Villain?(Steve Jobs)

In web design class we watched the movie Pirates of Silicone Valley. It was about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and how they got started in the computer business. I never realized that at first the computer wouldn't be widely accepted because I'm so used to it now. In my opinion Steve Jobs must not be the nicest person! His girlfriend was pregnant and he abandoned her and refused to help support his daughter. He also seemed to think that he was better than everyone at Apple including his friend and co-founder Steve(the other Steve). I think he is a very successful person but I guess this proves that success is frequently powered by someone with an iron fist. I think the computer that Steve jobs created was one of the best inventions that can be used all over the world but I think his personality causes him to fall into the category of a villain!

Shopping

I really love going to northpark and shopping with my friends. I usually prefere to go with just one friend if I am just shopping but a big group if we are going to hang out or eat lunch or something. My favorite stores at northpark:

Forever21- Every thing in that store is so inexpensive so its a great place to stop up on trendy things that probably will only be in for one season because you don't feel like you have wasted a lot of money! Its also a great place to go shopping at the last minute like for partys when you have nothing to wear!

J Crew- I love J Crew sweaters-in fact im kind of addicted to them. I have six sweaters from there which I realize seems like alot but they all serve very different purposes. There styles are always classic so you can wear them year after year which is great because you definitely get you moneys worth.

Lilly Pulitzer- I definitely love going in their store! The bright clothing and decor inside the store make it so much fun to go in! I absolutely love their clothes but they are kind of expensive so usually when I go in I just look around. Though I don't think the people who work in there really like me all that much because I usually don't spend more than like $30 when I go in there and they really only like customers who give them lots of business.

Nordstrom- Such a great store! You can find designer shoes, handbags, cosmetics, clothing and about anything else all under one roof!

Panda Express- I am not really one for fast food but Panda Express is my favorite place in the food court. You never have to wait in line for more than a few minutes which is great for impatient people like myself. I LOVE the orange chicken they have over a bed of steamed rice and some soy sauce. Its purely delicious!

Sephora- Sephora is a great place because you can be in there for 45 minutes trying on all the expensive makeup and they wont care. In fact they usually offer to give you one of their free make overs which I really dont reccomend because they usually put on way to much makeup. I myself have never gotten one but after seeing the people that have I think I don't want one.

Tables

In web design we are learning how to insert tables in our web pages. It is really cool because you can even add colors into the boxes. I added pale pink, aqua, and pale yellow because these colors remind me of Spring and Easter! I know that you put data in tables but I don't know what data I should use in the table we have to create. Does anyone have any ideas???

Sharks!!

Ok so as previously mentioned I am going to Florida this year for Spring Break! I think its going to be really fun! I was talking to my friend Ellie who is like really shark savvy and she was telling me about shark dangers in Florida. So she says that Great Whites can only be found around Africa and such but still hammerheads kind of scare me I mean have you seen the size of there teeth?? Well anyways she says if I swim in th eocean I probably won't get attacked but still I think I will just swim in the pool at the resort I am staying at!

Wow that looks really scary! Wouldn't you just be terrified if you were the person in that kayak??

Weakest Web Page

I would probably have to say that my weakest webpage is my about HTML page. It's not a bad page but it was our first webpage so the design is nothing special. It has my logo on it but aside from that it is just a plain webpage with a colorful background. I like my other pages better simply because they have embeded images, links to other pages, lists, or more interesting design.

Spring Break!!!

I just can't wait spring break! It comes at the perfect time of the year when we are all burned out from school and everybody needs a break. I am going to a small island in Florida on the Gulf Coast. I absolutely love going to the beach and I really wish I could go every year! The island we are going to is so fun and because it's so small people drive golf carts instead of cars and you can ride bikes all over the island. It's going to be such a blast and I plan on waking up early and walking down the beach looking for shells and swimming in the water. I hope yall have great breaks as well!

Optical Illusions

Optical Illusions are visuals that play tricks on the mind. You think you are looking at one thing but then it turns out to be different or its just a cool picture that appears differently. Does it surprise you to find out that this is a static image? Yes thats right this image is not moving though it appears that way. This is just one fun optical illusion that I have come across but there are many more out there!

What I Have Learned(about colors)

In web design class we have gotten to make our own pages all about colors on the web! It's so cool! We had to find the information on our own which was a bit challenging at times but we got to include our own pictures which was fun. I added a picture of the color wheel and the chart of colors with recognizable names to a computer. Most colors have a specific hexadecimal value that must be entered into the computer but a few colors have specific names to save people from having to find a specific value. Some of these colors are fuschia, blue, aqua, and lime to name a few. In designing my color page I learned so much about colors on the web! I learned about colorblindness and discovered a colorblind filter page where you can check any web page and they show you what it would look like to a colorblind person.

Links!

In web design we have been learning all about different kinds of links which is really cool! we learned how to add a picture that serves as a link and you can click on it and it takes you to a website. I think that is way cool!

New York!

So I'm supposed to fly to NYC today and all of a sudden out of nowhere a blizzard is headed to new england. GREAT! so now my plane has been cancelled but I'm really hoping that I will still get to go on another flight or maybe even fly into connecticut or some other state. Don't you just hate when the weather interferes with your plans I just HATE that. I mean really New York gets snow all the time you would think that their airport would be able to handle a little snow!

Kittens!

For some reason I really love cats! I love looking at pictures of cute kittens and I am really amused by funny cat videos on youtube!

My Logo!

I just finished creating my very own logo! I must say I think it's really cute because it incorperates my favorite color combonation and my monogram! I am so proud that I(being so untech-savvy) could create a logo! Well here it is! What do you think?

Cell Phones!

I am so glad that we can have our phones out in the hallways at school because I know that many schools do not have this luxury. But I don't just use my phone to text my friends during school. I actually use it for a purpose. On my phone, the iPhone I have actually found it to be very helpful for school. 1) you can take it places that you cant take a computer and it can access the internet so you can google things if you need to. 2) you can look things up on a dictionary app. 3) you can send/recieve emails. In all I have found my phone to be very useful!

SNOW IN DALLAS!!!

Today I woke up late already in a hurry to get dressed before I even looked out my windows. After I had gotten ready for school I looked at the window to see a great surprise. SNOW! and not just a little tiny layer of ice or anything I mean its actually snowy! I was getting ready to go back to sleep but then I found out we were actually expected to be at school! Rediculous! But apparently we can go home at 1:30 so I'm excited for that!!! Pics of the snow included!

LOGOS!!!

Every company has a logo, be it an actual design or a certain font, color, and way they write the company name on every one of their products. If a logo is good I think that its design and shape stick with you so that if you saw again you would recognize it. It should not be so complicated that it destracts from the page or product it represents and it should be somewhat related to the company or individual it represents. Some personal favorite logos of mine are:

The Tory Burch logo
Its design is simple and not destracting but its also unique so it doesn't get confused with other company logos.

Another favorite of mine is the Lilly Pulitzer LogoThe colors are the company's trademark colors but even without the colors it is still recognizable as Lilly Pulitzer and it has the company's initials in a fun way.


And another favorite of mine is the Lacoste logo It has the company name and then the same logo on all of their clothing. A smart marketing technique because once people are familiar with the logo they will always recognize the products.

GROUNDHOG"S DAY!!!

So today is Groundhog's Day and the groundhog says that winter is not over. Much to my surprise there is actually a groundhog's day celebration in some town in Pennsylvania where Phil the groundhog comes every year and they look for his shadow! He is definitely an adorable groundhog!

Thoughts On HTML

While in Web Design class we have been learning all about HTML coding. I actually thought that making a webpage was as simple as a word document except in an online format. However no such luck. It's actually much more complicated for example, to make an angle bracket you can't just hit < you have to type in a combination of letter and there are all sorts of other codes. At first it seemed like a huge jumble of numbers and letters that I didn't understand at all but then after a few days I learned all of the HTML codes and thankfully it doesn't seem confusing any more. I think that learning about making web pages is really cool!
